Today we began class with a reminder of how we begin our day.... by walking into the room "Ready To Learn!" It's a wiggly group that shows up each week, and we lose about 10 minutes of each class getting ourselves settled and ready to start. That is a LOT of valuable class time! So we reminded ourselves of the class expectations:
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Follow Directions
There's definitely something about being in a room full of computers that gets the students going. Once we were in Learning Mode, we reviewed how we get our computers ready for the day. We "woke them up" by tapping on the space bar, then if they didn't wake up, we checked the CPU to make sure it was on.... once at the desktop, we were set to start!
The class was then introduced to Symbaloo (http://www.symbaloo.com/mix/keyboarding1?searched=true) typing. This page has links to dozens of fun typing practice sites! There are other symbaloos out there - feel free to help your student find others (I'll be sharing others that I'm creating and that other teachers have already created as the year goes on...)
To wrap up the last 10 minutes of class, we had some fun painting on TuxPaint!
Assessment
There wasn't a formal assessment today, as we primarily reviewed skills and introduced the new site.
This was the last class of the first quarter!
